Dr. Becky Peebles

Meet Dr. Becky Peebles, one of our primary wellness specialists at the New Biology Clinic

Dr. Becky Peebles is a holistic physician with a background in Osteopathic medicine, family medicine, sports medicine and medical acupuncture. She believes that true health comes from treating the whole person — not just the symptoms. Alongside her clinical experience in private practice and as an active duty Air Force Physician, Becky has spent the entirety of her career as a physician educator teaching medical students, residents, and fellow physicians. At the heart of her work is a deep commitment to patient care and human connection. Joining the New Biology clinic team as a Primary Wellness Specialist is a blessing and she is excited to have the opportunity to work alongside individuals, teaching them about nature and their bodies, giving them tools to pursue health and wellness and facilitate the process as needed. Understanding TRUE health is vital to thriving in this life.

At a very young age, Becky became fascinated by the human body and quickly recognized that it is an amazing creation with great potential. Her first glimpse at a different approach to medicine came from two experiences around the age of ten. First, a sports injury landed Becky in an Orthopedic surgeon’s office. However, unlike her primary care team, the Orthopedist wanted her to continue her sport as movement was her medicine. The second was a visit from a cousin who introduced her to the principles of Osteopathic Medicine. Becky immediately knew that she wanted to help people by facilitating the body’s natural ability to heal.

Becky completed her undergraduate studies at Texas Tech University and medical school at Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. She trained in Family Medicine at Travis Air Force Base and Sports Medicine at the Uniformed Services University. Becky’s toolbox to help patients was growing but she was not satisfied. Shortly after taking her first faculty physician job, she completed medical acupuncture training. It was at that point that she began understanding the body in terms of energetics and realized Western medicine has a very narrow scope of practice. As a physician, she also noticed that there was a distinct gap in her ability to help patients. Many people experience symptoms that are difficult to define and many diseases do not fit into the mold of the diagnosis classification that she was taught in school. Additionally, in a culture of abundance, Becky believes that our society at large is malnourished. Despite the consumerism, we have lost sight of our basic needs. Our bodies thrive off movement, immersion in nature, genuine relationships, good nutrients, and spiritual connection. We are taught to live in a way that keeps our bodies in a constant state of stress and fatigue. Beginning to see the problem as dis-ease rather than disease unlocked a whole new approach for her. Becky aims to break the mold of “traditional medicine” and focus on the foundations of health. Since that time, she has been on a mission to explore and integrate diverse approaches to health and healing.

After 8 years of service as an active duty Air Force Physician, Becky elected to be honorably discharged from the military to spend more time with her family. She took a corporate clinical job near family but quickly realized that she could not adequately apply her approach to helping people in this model. Becky wholeheartedly believes that each person’s story holds the key to healing. Without getting to know the person, it is impossible to truly help them. She became increasingly frustrated with the paucity of time that the “system” affords to patient care and the resistance toward integrative approaches. Becky subsequently opened her own direct care clinic to allow her the freedom to practice without constraints.

Complementing her work in holistic heath, Becky brings a strong background in Sports Medicine. With her experience, including time as a team physician for a Division II university, she has worked closely with athletes from a wide range of ages, disciplines and abilities. As an athlete herself, she brings a deep understanding of the physical and mental demands of sport. Becky offers a unique perspective that enriches the New Biology team’s commitment to whole-person care.

From competitive dance and tumbling in her youth to rugby in college and endurance sports in adulthood, Becky has always embraced movement as a vital part of her life. Her most notable successes in sport were completing a full Ironman triathlon and qualifying for/running the Boston marathon. As both an athlete and a working mom, Becky understands the challenges of finding balance and staying recharged. She finds joy in spending time with her husband and four children, and is most rejuvenated when outdoors—camping, hiking, and exploring together. She loves the Lord and strives to bring glory to Him in all that she does.
